Carpenter in court for alleged criminal breach of trust, assault

A 30-year-old carpenter, Samuel Kwaghbulu, yesterday appeared in a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Life Camp, Abuja, for alleged criminal breach of trust and assaulting businessman.
The accused, of Setraco Gwarinpa, Abuja, is standing trial on three counts of criminal breach of trust, cheating and causing grievous hurt before Senior Magistrate Abdullateef Abolaji.

The prosecutor, Sgt Salihu Mohammed, told the court that Mr Christopher Danladi of Setraco Gwarinpa lodged the complaint at the Gwarinpa Police Station on May 15.
Mohammed alleged that on May 12, the accused collected N10,000 from one Mr Bentha Isetim with an agreement to fix the front door to his house.

The prosecutor said Isetim sustained severe injury on his face and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The accused person said, while making his plea, that “it is true but it is not correct.”
The Senior Magistrate admitted the accused to bail for N10,000 and two sureties.
Abolaji ordered that the sureties must have a reasonable means of livelihood, with a traceable and verifiable work and home address.

He said the sureties should deposit their drivers’ licences or national identity cards with the court’s registrar and adjourned the matter until June 2 for hearing. (NAN)
