Biafra: PFN decry soldiers’ deployment

Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has called on the federal government to cease from using the military to quell civil crisis.

In a press statement by the National President of PFN, Rev. Felix Omobude, described the use of soldiers to tackle internal security matters like the ongoing operation “Python Dance” in the South-east as “a return of dark days in Nigeria’s democratic process.”

“It was wrong for the federal government to have rolled out military men into the streets in some Nigerian cities,” he said.

The cleric, however, called on all agitators, especially the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to conduct their agitation within the ambit of Nigeria laws, adding that “they should respect the rights of others.”

Omobude, who also charged the federal government to adequately equip the Nigeria Police to tackle internal security issues in the country, urged for greater unity of purpose among Nigerians across the different ethnic and religious lines.

According to him, “we (PFN) appeal for calm and understanding on the part of everyone and for continued prayers for greater peace and prosperity in Nigeria.”
