Bandits kill 47 in Katsina

As communities in Katsina state continue to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, bandits at the weekend unleashed mayhem in the state, killing 47 people in three  villages.

The attacks occurred in villages across Danmusa, Safana and Dutsin-ma local government areas of the state.

Katsina police command spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the attack on Sunday, said security operatives were on trail of the assailants.

He disclosed that during the attack, the bandits killed 14 persons in Kurecin Atai in Danmusa local government area, while four were killed at Kurecin Giye, with six killed in Kurecin Dutse in Dutsin-ma local government.

Similarly, 19 persons were killed in Makauwachi while four were killed in Daule village, adding that the bandits used AK- 47 rifles in their operation

Isah said a combined team of the Police, Army, DSS, Airforce and Civil Defence were already in the area to track down the assailants, describing the incident as the second most deadly attack  in the state in 2020.
