Nigeria athletes have converged on Abuja to begin pre Africa Games and Olympic Games evaluation competition with over 300 AthIetes vying for honours at the Moshood Abiola stadium.
A statement signed by the Secretary General of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Rita Mosindi, said the evaluation meet has been split into two phases to accommodate the large number of athletes.
The first phase of the meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday February while the second phase will hold 16th to 17th February in Abuja.
The statement also approved events for the men’s category to include; 100m, 400m, 1,500m, 400mH, High Jump, Long Jump and Javelin while the events for the women’s category are; 100m, 400m, 800m, 100mH, Triple Jump, Discus and Race Walk
Mosindi also stated that prizes will be available for 1st to 6th positions in the men and women’s events.
The 13th edition of the African Games is scheduled for March 8 to 23, 2024 in Ghana
