APC has no hand in PDP minority leadership crisis – Rep

All Progressives Congress (APC) member representing Jalingo/ Yorro/Zing federal constituency of Taraba state, Hon. Kasimu Bello Maigari  has said  the party has no hand in the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party over the minority leadership position in  the House of Representatives.

Speaking with Blueprint Monday in Abuja, Hon Maigari said APC neither supported candidate nor fuel the crisis for the position, attributing the squabbles to what he described as “the uncooperative attitude of the party” in fielding the candidates for the position either through zoning or consensus.

He said their inability to bring out a candidate for the position led to factionalisation in the camp of the party in the house.

The lawmaker, who said PDP is facing the current crisis for failing to put its house in order, described “the tension as being generated by the party over the leadership (as) unnecessary if they had put their house in order.”

He added that the opposition should have keyed into election process that brought  in  Speaker Femi Gbajabiamilla which was  conducted peacefully and  transparently instead of “selecting some loyal members and imposing them on the House.

“What happened with the election of the Speaker should have been a good lession to the PDP; a true reflection of the wishes of the whole house in which the victory was for all members.”

Maigari said, contrary to insinuations, the 9th Assembly will not be a rubber stamp, stressing that the members are ready to work on a legislative agenda that would bring development to the electorate. He added that he is ready to work for the nation and the people gave him the mandate at the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
