The deputy governor of Benue state, Sam Ode, Tuesday stated the resolve of Governor Hycinth Alia adminstration to sustain a good working relationship with journalists to succeed in his effort to transform the state.
Speaking when he paid a visit to the Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of journalists (NUJ) in Makurdi, the deputy governor sued for corporation between journalists and the Benue state government for a better Benue.
He also appealed to journalists to always project activities of the Alia administration and engage in constructive criticism and avoid the temptation of making reports that have questionable sources.
He called on journalists to always verify their information and look forward to get informed position on any news they may have gotten from the public space.
He said on the part of government, they will work hard to ensure a better working relation with journalists and ensure fulfillment of social contract entered into with the Benue people.
He said he was in the secretariat of the Correspondents Chapel to see how government could assist to improve the status of the office accommodation of the chapel for a better working environment.
“We are partners in building the nation and constructive criticism will stimulate government in doing what is right,” he said.
