Akwa Ibom gets 14th NSCDC commandant

The 14th Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Akwa Ibom Command Mr. Adam Imam has arrived the state.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Friday Ekerete in Uyo and made available to newsmen,Tuesday.

Ekerete in the statement said Imam took over from State Commandant Suleiman Mafara, who has been redeployed to the National Headquarters, Abuja.

He added the new state commandant has worked in different NSCDC commands across the country before being posted to Akwa Ibom.

He said Imam holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, and was ready to reposition the command to ensure effective service delivery.

According to him, the commandant after taking over, briefed officers of the command and solicited their support to actualise the mandate of the Corps as enshrined in the NSCDC Act 2003 and 2007 as amended.

Ekerete said the commandant commended his predecessor for his valuable contributions and service to the growth of the command and pledged to bring fresh zeal and vigour to actualising the mandates of the corps.

He quoted the commandant as saying, “I am here to carry out the mandates of the corps as enshrined in the NSCDC Act 2003 and 2007 (Amendment Act). I cannot do it alone. 

“So, I need your support to succeed and justify the confidence reposed on us by the Federal Government and Nigerians.”
