Adamawa tertiary schools’ heads, security operatives meet over Boko Haram

Heads of tertiary institutions in Adamawa state are meeting with security operatives on how to check attempts by Boko Haram insurgents to attack any institution in the state.
Speaking at the opening ceremonies in Yola, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Malam Ahmad Sajoh, said the meeting was at the instance of the security agencies “in view of the growing attempts by the insurgents to attack University of Maiduguri through suicide bombers.”
Sajoh noted that the insurgency started from Borno before spreading to others states like Adamawa, and that was why the Adamawa state government felt that every precautionary measure needed to be taken in all the tertiary institutions across the state.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Ahmad Rufai, charged heads of tertiary institutions on giving priority attention to security.
Rufai urged them to take the security advices and tips given them with all seriousness, adding that adequate support should be given to chief security officers of the institutions by the vice-chancellors, rectors and provosts.
Speaking, on behalf of his colleagues, Rector of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Prof. Bobboi Umar, described the meeting as “timely” and assured of their commitment to ensure security in their respective institutions.
