I wish the first set of northern leaders were alive -those people who ruled without sentiment and religious barrier, those who prioritised citizens’ welfare ahead of theirs, those who valued human development and spent time providing adequate security to the people, those who built the nation from their pockets and not to pilfer the nation’s treasury, and those who never fell asleep no matter the odds.
Indeed, the great heroes, you deserve every praise and compliments. But how, when the people you left behind don’t take your footsteps? Despite all the good legacies you left, they end up ruining them.
Oh! North, when did you give birth to such set of people trying to dent your image from the most peaceful, hospitable to most chaotic region; still trying to harm your image from the richest to the most poverty stricken?
Every issue is North – Boko Haram insurgents, armed bandits, armed robbery, kidnapping, communal clashes, religious and political crise – all in Northern Nigeria. Why North?
When we claimed to be more cultured and religious, when we are carrying the word “Nigeria”, when we feed the nation, when we have the highest number of states, when have the highest population, when we have the majority in the parliaments, when have the highest slots in the executive arm, when we have so much opportunities to even play the game alone, but end up ruining them, hmmm! What stupid blessings that we can’t use judiciously?
Now the question, does this set of people (Northern leaders) really love the region or they are just taking advantage to ruin and destabilise the once peaceful North? This question we don’t have an answer yet. But why all the menace? Our great heroes did not make it that way. So, where did you (northern leaders) inherit this negative attitude from?
I don’t really know where this wickedness and greed come from. You were treated kindly by getting the required need but why can’t you do the same for the young generation if really you love northerners and the progress of the North?
This is inhumanity to the core, can’t you see how innocent people are dying all as result of your bad governance. We voted you to power just to secure our lives and property and failure to do so we won’t take any excuses rather it’s incompetence.
And if that’s the case you deserve nothing other than resignation because you can’t keep mute and an inactive while people are suffering. We did not just voted you for yourselves but rather for the masses comfort. You have no need to bother for your lives alone, I mean leadership is a life sacrifice to humanity and nothing other than that.
Finally, just wake up and do the needful before the aggrieved people start taking their destiny in their own hands.
