2027: SDP not in coalition with any party for now –  Olaniyi

The chairman of Social Democratic Party ( SDP) chairmen   in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Hon Hon. Femi Olaniyi, at the weekend said party in the South-West region will not be part of any coalition for now.

 Olaniyi  who stated this in Ibadan during the South-West Stakeholders’ meeting held at the party’s secretariat, Ibadan said the meeting comes on the heels of a coalition of opposition parties adopting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform for the 2027 general elections.

He pointed out that the party in the South-West region will not be part of any coalition at the moment as no decision can be made on this matter without directives from the National Working Committee (NWC), and that the party is still waiting for the NWC’s stance on the coalition.

Emphasizing the unity among leaders and stakeholders in the region, Hon Olaniyi said the party stakeholders will work together to rescue Nigeria from the current administration and bring a formidable government in 2027.

” Nobody can take any decision on this coalition except the directive from our National Working Committee (NWC). So, we are still waiting for our NWC to come up with its own stand and everything regarding this coalition”, he said. 

Hon Olaniyi added, ” As it’s stand now, there is nothing like coalition in SDP. We make them to understand that no part of SDP in the region that joins the coalition”

” We discussed about the challenges, progress and the coalition at our meeting.We have seen how everything is being played out in our party. So, we need to brief our members, especially our stakeholders in the region”.

He stressed” In the six states of Ondo, Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti and Oyo, respectively. We have been asking series of questions regarding this so called coalition, and we just called our people to intimate our resolves not to be part of any coalition at the moment”.
