Women in Bauchi state have assured Governor Mohammed Abubakar of their total support in 2019 citing his unprecedented achievements in women empowerment as first of its kind in the history of the state.
Aishatu Ibrahim, one of the beneficiaries of the recent women empowerment programmes in which 500 women have been assisted with N10 million to boost their small-scale businesses in the state, stated this while speaking with our correspondent in Bauchi on Sunday.
Aishatu also urged for replication of the same gesture beyond 2019 to enable more women to be captured and benefit from the peopleoriented leadership style of Gov.
Abubakar and the first lady, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar under her pet project, Bauchi Sustainable Women Economic Empowerment and Peace Initiative (B-SWEEP).
‘’We have worked and prayed fervently for positive change both at the state and the national level and today we’re happy having President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abubakar in Bauchi state formulating programmes that are improving our lives and the complementary projects of Her Excellency, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar is going a long way in advancing the economy and alleviating poverty in the society,’’ she said.
Hajiya Abubakar, Chairperson of the Northern Governor’s Wives Forum (NGWF) and also the founder of an NGO, Bauchi Sustainable Women Economic Empowerment and Peace Initiative (BSWEEP) has assisted 500 women in the state and said, all women in the state would benefit from the similar gesture as she promised to extend the projects to other parts of the state.
‘’We are starting with women in Bauchi local government area and we shall extend same to other women across the state,’’ she said.
