Iwuanyanwu cries out, alleges threat to life, destruction of Igbo

The President General of Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has decried threats to his life.

He said some Igbo were out to destroy him for a crime he did not commit, explaining that his only offence was that he is the President General of Ohanaeze.

Iwuanyanwu alleged that the same people had killed past Igbo leaders like Prof. George Obiozor.

Iwuanyanwu said this at a press conference held at the Ohanaeze Secretariat, Enugu Wednesday evening.

He described those he accused of plotting his death as enemies of Igbo.

He added that some time ago, he got information from some people that they were hired to burn down his house and eliminate him.

The Ohanaeze boss said one of those who gave him the information said he cannot burn down his house because his brother was a beneficiary of his scholarship scheme.

He further expressed dismay over threats to former President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, adding that his predecessor, Obizor died after his house and his academic works were  burnt down.

Iwuanyanwu however said the National Executive Council of Ohanaeze had after their meetings resolved to forward the names of some people who have been spreading false reports against the Igbo group to the highest decision making body of Ohanaeze, Imeobi for appropriate disciplinary actions.
