Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) worldwide Sunday said that the only way to restore the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) from falling is by maintaining zoning formula.
The group which is one of the Igbo groups that are agitating for South-east Presidency come 2023 maintained that it was the only way for PDP to survive.
In a statement signed by OYC President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, ahead of forthcoming meetings of Board of trustees members of PDP, the group warned that an Igbo man should not be considered for vice Presidential said they are floating an #EndVP campaigns in South-east.
The statement reads in part, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide had described the proposed emergency meetings of PDP BOT members On Wednesday 18th November and PDP NEC members on Thursday 19th November 2020 to discuss the South-east Presidency and imminent collapse of PDP in South-east as the last opportunity to resuscitate a comatose party by reverting back to zoning Formula enshrined in her Constitution that favours South-east Presidency in 2023.
“OYC had activated our cells for the #EndVP campaigns in South-east, to ensure that Igbo Presidential hopefuls emerge without any internal conspiracy and wrangling purportedly influenced by Northern Presidential hopefuls to thwart the South-east Presidency and compensate Igbo with VP slot.
“Never again will any Igbo betray the collective interests of Igbos by accepting VP slot, that era of impunity had ended, and anyone caught negotiating for VP slot will suffer stiff penalties.
“Failure of PDP BOT and NEC to stand down the NWC’s decision for an unconstitutional ‘open Contest’ and revert to zoning formula, will inevitably lead to collapse of PDP machinery in South-east as three Igbo Governors will lead Igbos into mass defection from PDP to APC. “.
