Zamfara owes Kaduna Electric N400m

Zamfara state government is owing the Kaduna Electric Distribution

Company the sum of N400 million, a situation that has led to the disconnection of all the state government agencies, parastatals including Government House, Gusau.

Briefing newsmen yesterday, the Business District Relations Officer (BDRO) Kaduna Electric Business Unit, Gusau, Malam Aminu Aminu, said they had no option than to

disconnect all the state government’s agencies, parastatals and Government House pending when the government settle all the outstanding bill.

He said, they followed all due process to convince the state government to disburse the fund but no avail, adding: “We have no any further alternative than to disconnected all these government agencies as we realized that the state government was shown nonchalant attitude in settling our bill to the tune

of N400 million”.

When contacted, the secretary to Zamfara state government Prof. Abdullahi Shinkafi said, already a committee had been constituted by the state government to find out exact amount the state government owed the company.

“We have set up a committee which comprised government officials and Kaduna electric company officials for urgent negotiation on this issue”, Shinkafi said.

He said in the last five years, Zamfara state government was paying N12 million to the company every month as bill, saying after the committee submitted its report on the issue, they told the government that the actual money it supposed to pay was N9 million a situation which caused all the contention by the company against the state government.
