Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Tuesday, described infrastructure as a yardstick of human, economic growth and development of any nation.
Chief Obasanjo stated this while commissioning Zanna Road along Government Reservation Area (G.R.A) reconstructed by the administration of Zamfara state governor, Dauda Lawal, as part of his two- year anniversary in Gusau, the state capital.
He stated that good road network, security, healthcare delivery, food security, water and sanitation, transportation and communication, are the key for human institutions to develop in any given nation.
Chief Obasanjo commended Governor Lawal for his giant strides in providing basic infrastructural facilities with direct impact on the citizens of the state within his two years in office.
“Indeed the level of physical transformation seen in terms of infrastructures in Zamfara state under the leadership of Governor Lawal is a manifestation that people in the state have witnessed the dividends of democracy,” he said.
The former president called on other governors to emulate Governor Lawal in transforming their respective states with meaningful infrastructural facilities for the development of their states and betterment of their people.
Blueprint reports that during the visit, the former president commissioned N20 billion renovated Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, Kwanar Birnin Ruwa township road, among others.
Speaking earlier, Governor Lawal said his government was giving priority to healthcare delivery, security, education, water resources, road construction and job creation as part of his rescue agenda for the development of the state.
