Zamfara: Bandits kill 35 kidnap victims after N50m ransom

No fewer than 35 kidnapped victims from Banga village in Kaura Namoda local government have been killed by  a group of armed bandits after collecting over N50 million as ransom.

Resident in the area identified as Lawali Muhammad Banga in a telephone interview with Blueprint stated that the bandits kidnapped 53 people in their village a few months ago and demanded N1million for each person which was paid.

He said only 18 kidnapped people were released alive out of which 35 were reportedly killed in captivity.

“These terrorists killed 34 of our men and one female while in captivity, and we got a report of 18 of our people been released unconscious by the terrorists.

“We were told by those released alive that the remaining 35 kidnapped victims were slaughtered like rams by their captors after we paid the sum of N50 million ransom,” he said. 

Banga stated that the area is currently under the control of terrorists, adding that many villages surrounding Banga village have been sacked and deserted as a result of rampant attacks by bandits.
