Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state Thursday approved the sum of N480,200,000.00 for the procurement of 490 solar powered water pumps for distribution to small-scale irrigation farmers in the state.
Commissioner in the Ministry for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Mr. Abdullahi Bego, said while briefing journalists after the executive council meeting at the Government House, Dramaturu, that the deputy governor, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, commended Governor Buni’s strides in revitalising the agriculture sector which sustained 85 percent of Yobe’s population.
The deputy governor commended the state executive council members for their synergy and teamwork, urging them to sustain the momentum for Yobe’s program.
The commissioner further stated that the council ratified several approvals, including that of the sum of N1, 767, 937, 912.24 for the construction of office complexes to accommodate five agencies, namely the Bureau for Public Procurement, Fiscal Responsibility Board, Ease of Doing Business, Agency for Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion, and the Bureau of Statistics.
Similarly, he said the sum of N962, 654,713.00 was approved for the construction of an office building for the Yobe Investment Company Ltd.
“The State Executive Council has also ratified an approval of the sum of N6, 131, 206, 053.23 for the establishment of a Central Motor Park in Damaturu, the state capital. In a similar vein, the sum of N248, 691, 683.95 was ratified for the first phase of the remodeling and upgrading of the Yobe Line Terminus, Damaturu.
“Also the council has approved the sum of N3, 799, 000, 000.00 for the procurement of agricultural inputs for dry season farming as part of the effort of His Excellency the governor to boost agricultural production and food security in the state,” he said.
