Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna state on Tuesday commissioned various completed roads and a general hospital projects in the Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone of the state.
The governor commissioned the main building and maternity unit of the Kagarko General Hospital, which was upgraded and equipped in partnership with the Centre for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP), a non-governmental organisation.
He also commissioned the Maraban Iddah-Iddah-Bwari Junction road in Kagarko local government area, which was awarded in December 2013. He said the 6.5km Maraban Iddah asphalt surface road was conceived to ease transportation within communities along the axis and to reduce travel time to Abuja from Kaduna.
“The importance of this road cannot be over- emphasised. It is already boosting socio-economic activities of this area. People and goods, especially agricultural products can now are easily transported in and out of the Iddah market. This road also provides a short link to Bwari road, which subsequently links to Abuja and to Kagarko, the local government headquarters.”
The governor said construction of the second phase of the road to link Maraban Iddah to Bwari Junction will soon commence. “This administration has already given approval to process the award of contract for the completion of this road from the Bridge Area to meet the Jere-Bwari Road (1.96km).
The governor also commissioned Gidan Mana 5km township roads in Kachia local government area. The road is finished with double coat surface dressing and drainages. Yero also commissioned the 5.5km Zonkwa-Yarvban road in Zangon Kataf local government area, where he promised to complete the road to Kamurun.
