Yahaya Bello demands transfer of ‘N80.2bn fraud’ case to Kogi

Former Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has appealed that the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, to transfer his trial to Lokoja, the state capital.

Alhaji Bello after governing Kogi state is facing a 19-count charge bordering on his alleged complicity in money laundering, breach of trust and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of about N80.2billion.

He made the appeal in a letter to the Chief Judge which he wrote through his team of lawyers led by Mr. Abdulwahab Mohammed, SAN.

The former governor argued that only Lokoja Division of the high court has the territorial jurisdiction to entertain the allegations that were raised against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

EFCC had alleged that the former governor, alongside his nephew Ali Bello and two others, Dauda Suleiman and Abdulsalam Hudu, were complicit in money laundering.
