The World Bank has trained journalists on Natural Capital Accounting and Sustainability reporting.

The event was organized by the World Bank and Global Programme on Sustainability, (GPD).

The World Bank representative and Environmental Specialist, Ahmed Chinade Abdullahi, made this known on Thursday, in Abuja during the workshop, adding that the training will enhance media capacity to effectively communicate the economic and policy implications of natural capital in Nigeria.

The workshop aims to build the knowledge and storytelling skills of journalists on sustainability issues and promote a solutions based reporting approach.

He said the participants will be introduced to key NCA concept and the role of journalism in promoting environmental accountability and public awareness.

Mr Abdullahi further states that the training will also highlight collaborative efforts between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the World Bank to mainstream NCA into national policy and planning processes, promoting the sustainable management of Nigeria’s rich natural resources.
