Work to contain insecurity, Sokoto CAN chair charges political leaders

The chairman Christians Association of Nigeria, Sokoto state chapter, Rev. Dr. Moses Kayode James, Monday, charged political leaders in the country to fear God and ensure judicious use of the public resources.

He gave the advice while addressing a congregation of Christian faithful gathered at the Trader Fair Complex, Sokoto, to conduct the 2025 Easter Praise and Prayer for Peace in Sokoto state as part of activities to mark this year’s Easter celebration.

Rev Moses also charged the leaders at all levels of government, to work harder, be sincere and  live up to their responsibility to end insecurity and bloodshed which has become pervasive in the country.

“The blood is flowing everywhere in Plateau, Benue, Taraba, Sokoto, Edo, Borno, and several places.

“Our people are living in fear. As we are praying for peace, I equally call on the government to provide adequate security.

“Security is a necessity. It is our right. Nigerians are entitled to the right to live anywhere they find themselves.

“It is the duty of every responsible government to protect the lives and property of its citizens. Any government that fails to achieve this is ineffective,” the CAN chairman stated.

Rev Moses said today’s gathering was not only for Easter celebrations but also for spiritual renewal, unity, and intercession.

He said this year’s prayer session was themed “He is risen” and was organised by Christians Association of Nigeria, Sokoto state branch as part of the activities to celebrate this year’s Easter.

“We unite across denominations, tribes, and tongues to raise our voices in praise and lift our hands in prayer.

“We pray for peace in our land. We pray for the safety and well-being of every citizen,” the CAN chairman stated.
