Women jubilate as peace returns to Anambra community, 5 years after 

Over 200 women in Isuaniocha, Awka North Local Government Area (LGA), Friday, celebrated return of peace in the community after five years of crisis.

The excited women, who made their feelings known while donating food items to some security agents who were in the town for peace keeping mission, also hailed the community’s former President General, Chief Anthony Onyeagolu for his efforts.

It was reported that items brought by the women groups included rice, garri, dry fish, ogbono, egusi, tin tomatoes, maggi, among other food condiments.

Spokesperson for the group, Mrs Alice Chukwukeluo, told Blueprint they have been living in fear and tears due to the crisis, which according to her, had led to death of many people, while many houses were destroyed.

She however, noted that the moves so far made by the Onyeagolu family to return peace to the community was a welcome development, hence their decision to donate food items for the upkeep of those involved in the process.

Also speaking, Mrs Chinyere Nweke, whose group, Concerned Women of Isuaniocha, equally donated food items to the peace keepers, and celebrated Onyeagolu family for embracing peace five years after they were chased out of the town. 

Receiving the items from the women, a community leader, Chief Paulinus Onyeagolu, described peace as a panacea to development of every town, noting that victims of the crises destruction decided to go for it bearing the brunt of the damages done to their houses and means of livelihood.
