Afrobeats superstar Davido has opened up about the motivation behind his continued success in music, revealing that financial gain is no longer what fuels his career.
In a recently viral video, the 32-year-old singer, born David Adeleke, reflected on his journey and the mental strength it takes to thrive in the industry.
“I’m grateful to myself for being hardworking,” he said. “The strength and mental ability it takes to do this work… especially when the odds are against you.”
Davido, who comes from a wealthy background, made it clear that his passion—not money—keeps him going.
“I got to do it, man. It’s another David. Get the f**k up. It was not for the money. I’ve got billions of dollars waiting for me. Even if I don’t work all my life, I have that. But I love my job.”
Davido first shot to fame in 2012 with Dami Duro, a chart-topping single from his debut album Omo Baba Olowo. Since then, he has risen to become one of Africa’s most celebrated and influential music stars.
