Governor Abdullahi Umar Gsnduje of Kano state has said that the spate of insurgent attacks and persistent cases of cattle rustling had been reduced to the barest minimum as a result of the consistent efforts of the security agencies to nip the twin menace in the bud.
Speaking when he received the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, who paid him a courtesy call at Kano Government House, yesterday
Ganduje, however, said the twin menace of insurgency and cattle rustling was confronted with vigour and valour considering the effort mounted by the Kano state Police Command in combing areas known to be notorious in that regard.

He said the stunning recovery of about 5,000 cattle from the hands of rustlers by the police in addition to effecting 100 arrests was a major feat worth being proud of, adding that the suspects arrested would be charged to court as a price for their abominable crimes.
He said the major problem at hand was the complex nature of the Falgore Forest where the expansive nature of the area had been proven difficult for security agencies to comb at a time, assuring that the “state government is coming up with a formidable plan to establish a joint patrol team comprising the army and the police for the problem to be tackled decisively.”

He said: “I want to tell the Inspector-General of Police that in Kano you have a man who had been up and doing in confronting cattle rustlers in the bush with brevity and courage I can’t Imagine the method he was employing in putting the rustlers on their toes.”
Speaking earlier, Arase said he was at Government House to intimate the governor on plans to make the state secure “in the face of the daunting security challenges confronting Kano,” adding that what was most needed at present was the state government support in terms of logistical holdings.
