We’ll deliver on constituency projects – Hon Tarkighir

The newly inaugurated chairman, House Committee on Constituency Outreach, Rt Hon Dickson Tarkighir, has assured Nigerians that the 10th Assembly will deliver on constituency projects to Nigerians.

The chairman in a brief interview with journalists shortly after the inauguration of 39 members that included the chairman and deputy, emphasized that the political will of the leadership of the House of Representatives, led by the Speaker, Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas, who will ensure a proper follow up and implementations of members’ constituency projects.

The chairman said, “Despite allegations of non implementation of projects by members as usually complained by Nigerians, which to me are unfounded accusations and for the mere facts that, as a second timer, I could recall how hard I worked to ensure every projects is delivered.

“This is my second time. Earlier, I was here 2011-2015 and now 2023. I thank God for the opportunity given to me by the Speaker House of Representatives, Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas to chair the Committee on Constituency Outreach.

“We will make the Speaker proud for giving us this opportunity to serve in this committee comprising 39 Reps members, one from each state, FCT and chairman and his deputy.”

The chairman said the agenda of the Constituency Outreach Committee, among other things, is to attend to 360 constituencies of the members in this country, as mandated by the Act of National Assembly Constituencies Development Catalyst Fund Bill, 2016. Bill sponsored by Sen. Buhari Abdulfatai (APC) Oyo State.

Tarkighir explained that the committee was charged with the responsibility of supervising the activities of constituency projects of the lawmakers, their Social investment programs, SIP and the

Dual Inline Packages, DIP to ensure whatever is meant for members dutifully gets to them.

He equally said, “we are ready to work to ensure members set up constituency offices in their office to see to it that constituent who finds them come go in there and find a place to seat down and when they returned they will speak well of their presentations.

He further said, the aim of setting up this committee is first and foremost to take care of the interest of members, to ensure whatever is due to any constituent gets to them and to make sure it reaches their constituencies.

The committee chairman stressed that the members always delivered on their mandate.

How to ensure constituency projects are implemented by the members, the chairman said the question of diligence follow up on colleagues to deliver on their promises is achievable with political will and God on our side will do it, Tarkighir said
