Water: We’ve employed strategies to boost production – KNSG

The Kano state government Tuesday said it employed modern modalities of boosting the production of clean portable drinking water to the general populace of the state.

The managing director, Kano state water board Dr. Garba Ahmad Kofar Wambai, stated this while briefing journalists in Kano on the activities of the agency.

He  said the present administration in Kano had provided all necessary logistics to the agency which pave way for the repairs of four high lift  pumps at Challawa water treatment plant, and many at Tamburawa and other treatment plants which lead to additional supply of portable drinking water in nooks and crannies of the state.

The managing director stated that sequel to the visit of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and other state officials to France some months ago, during which the governor inspected modern water system at France, the governor had invited professionals from France to Kano with a bid to utilise their expertise in boosting water production in Kano.

He said the professionals that came from France would collaborate with water board engineers in Kano and fine tune modalities of how to uplift the operations of the agency to global standard.

He noted that with the recent repairs of machines at all the water treatment plants in Kano, the board was able to provide over nine million liters of water daily in Kano.

“With recent development of the production of portable drinking water to the people of Kano, we are planning to start macharntising water to neighboring states like Bauchi, Kaduna, Katsina, among other states that need the water.”

He stated that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje had directed the foreign experts to look at the possibility of utilising the hill of Bompai to a reservoir , which would be used in reserving water for supply at areas like Bompai, Goron,  Dutse, Fagge, Burget and other areas.
