Area Commander, Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), popularly known as VIO, has charged commercial drivers operating in the city centre to operate with the Abuja painted taxi (vehicles) coloured.
The area commander in charge of area 1 Garki, Mr. Osim Samuel Osim, made this known in a chat with Blueprint in his office, noting that motoring public must obey FCT traffic rules and regulations or face the full wrath of the law.
The principal road traffic officer remarked that, the command under his watch is making effort to ensure free flow of traffic around area 1 round about and under the bridge also warned motorists to shun indiscriminate illegal parking.
He reiterated the commitment of the command to impound vehicles that were not road worthy, just as he urged commercial drivers to ensure that they entered parks to get off passengers, adding that his leadership would partner with the FCT Transport Secretariat to tackle route violations.
Osim enjoined the motoring public to go to driving schools for professional training before plying the road, saying that the act would in no small measure assist them to drive safety and make proper use of the high way code at the same time.
The commander said the command would continue to act firmly to control traffic, warning, however, that violators would not be spared.
