No fewer than 21 people are missing while 11 were fatally injured in a boat mishap in Lagos on Tuesday.
The police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident stated that it occurred on October 7, 2024, at about 1900hours in Imore town, Lagos.
He said a distressed call was received at Ilashe division that two unregistered passengers boat with 16 passengers on board, allegedly collided at the middle of the lagoon at Imore town.
He said, “In the process, the boats capsized and the passengers got drowned with goods.
“Based on the report, Marine policemen, local divers and other emergency responder were swiftly mobilised to the scene where 11 of the passengers were rescued with injuries and they were rushed to Naval Hospital, Navy town, Alakija, Ojo, for medical attention while search and rescue operation is being intensified with a view to recover bodies of other victims,” Hundeyin said.
