The United Kingdom has officially announced the commencement of applications for the 2025/2026 Chevening Scholarship programme, offering aspiring leaders worldwide—including Nigeria—the opportunity to pursue fully funded one-year master’s degrees at any UK university.

According to the British High Commission, the application window runs from August 5 to October 7, 2025. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive financial support covering tuition, travel, and living expenses throughout their study period.

Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the Chevening Scholarship targets individuals with exceptional academic achievements, proven leadership skills, and a clear vision for driving positive change in their communities and beyond.

Since its launch in 1983, the prestigious programme has supported over 60,000 professionals globally, including hundreds of Nigerians who have gone on to make significant impacts in sectors such as governance, media, law, and development.

Emma Hennessey, Head of the Scholarships Unit at the FCDO, highlighted the scholarship’s rigorous selection process and transformative potential. “Chevening’s highly competitive selection process ensures that those chosen represent the brightest and most driven individuals. Alumni use their education, networks, and the confidence they gain in the UK to create lasting change in their communities and across the world,” she said.
