U20 AFCON: Olise, others fit to battle South Africa in semi-final clash – Zubairu

Contrary to rumours making, Flying Eagles playmaker Divine Olise will most likely be in the starting lineup when Nigeria face South Africa in the semi-final clash of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium, Ismailia, Egypt.

This is as the World Cup bound Nigerian team finalised their tactics ahead of the crucial game with an evening training inside the pitch located within prestigious Mercure hotel.

Speaking to Blueprint, head coach, Aliyu Zubairu said, “All my players are fit and available for selection against South Africa. Those who had knocks before have all recovered.”

Zubairu also has assured fans that his team has been working hard to improve their goal-scoring efficiency.

Zubairu acknowledged the team’s recent struggles in front of goal but expressed confidence in the strides made during training.

“We have really worked on the low scoring tally problem. Yesterday’s session was dedicated entirely to that issue,” he said.

“We trained all our attackers to sharpen their decision-making in front of goal. I believe we are going to see positive results going forward.”

Nigeria, seven-time champions of the U-20 AFCON, will be aiming to reach another final as they continue their quest for continental glory.
