The Nigerian Army has recorded a series of significant operational successes across the country, neutralising four terrorists in Borno state and one armed criminal gang in Ebonyi.
The operations also led to the rescue of two kidnap victims in Zamfara state and recovery of a cache of weapons.
A statement from the acting director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Apollonia Anele, said the achievements highlight the army’s unwavering resolve to defend national sovereignty and protect citizens.
“In Borno state, troops of 3 Battalion successfully repelled an attack by ISWAP/JAS terrorists on August 7, 2025”
“A follow-up operation led to the discovery of the corpses of three terrorists, including a top commander identified as Amirul Fiya (aka Abu Nazir). The troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, two rocket-propelled grenades, and unexploded ordnance. A subsequent operation on August 9 uncovered another terrorist corpse and additional weapons, including a QJC 88-barrel gun and ammunition,” Anele stated.
In a separate operation in Zamfara state, troops of 1 Brigade Combat Team 2 responded to credible intelligence on August 8, 2025. Their swift action forced terrorists to flee, leading to the successful rescue of two kidnapped victims who have since been reunited with their families.
Similarly, in Ebonyi state on August 9, troops intervened in a communal crisis between the Iyimagwu and Ekpomaka communities. After coming under fire from an abandoned building, the troops responded decisively, neutralising one armed criminal and recovering a G3 rifle, ammunition, and four hand grenades.
The army spokesperson reiterated the army’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations in synergy with other security agencies to ensure lasting peace and security across Nigeria.
