Troops kill militant, arrest 3 suspects in Bayelsa

Troops of Operation Pulo Shield yesterday killed a militant and arrested three during a gun duel with the criminals along Soku Gas plant, while on operation to rescue abducted expatriates in Bayelsa state.
Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre Operation PULO SHIELD, Col. Isa Ado said the troops also injured many militants during the operation.

He said: “Three suspects were arrested but claimed to be victims of the pirates attack. Equipment recovered from the criminals during the encounter includes two AK 47 Automatic Assault rifle and 10 Magazine loaded with 7.62mm special ammunition.
“Troops had dominated the creeks and land trotting highly intensified in its efforts to rescue the abducted expatriate and apprehend the kidnappers.”

The spokesperson urged people the area to come up with reliable information that would lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects.
He assured them of the determination of the military to flush out all illegal activities in the Niger Delta.
“Suspected sea pirates had on Tuesday attacked workers of a construction company along Ogbia Nembe road in Bayelsa state. Two soldiers on security detail attached to the lost their lives during the encounter, while an expatriate was taken hostage.”
