The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order, Fidelis Bemsen Mnyim, Wednesday, reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Benue state judiciary in upholding the law, irrespective of the interests involved.
The reaffirmation comes as the Benue state local government chairmen and councillors secured a decisive victory at the Benue state local government election petitions appeal tribunal, further solidifying the legal standing of the state’s elected officials.
Mnyim who was reacting to the victory of all 23 chairmen at the elections petitions tribunal, noted that the development will foster stability, development and certainty in the state’s local government administration.
The Attorney-General expressed satisfaction with the judgments delivered by the Appeal Tribunal, which convened in Abuja.
He described the rulings as “sound and erudite,” emphasising that the petitions—primarily filed by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC)—were deemed to be pre-election matters or internal party affairs.
Extending his congratulations to the victorious chairmen and councillors, Mnyim acknowledged the significance of the ruling in affirming the integrity of the state’s electoral processes.
He urged all those who have lost in the elections tribunal to join hands with the chairmen and bring their laudable ideas to ensure development at the grassroots.
Mnyim, known for his extensive legal expertise, has a track record of leading strategic legal victories for the state.
Before assuming his current role, he successfully guided the APC through over 100 pre-election and post-election victories as the party’s legal adviser in Benue state.
According to his spokesman, Dr. Iormbagah Aondohemba Jacob, the tribunal’s rulings further highlight Mnyim’s commitment to securing legal victories for the state.
