Transition: Again, APC team absent from committee meeting

The Edo state government Joint Transition Committee meeting was again stalled on Wednesday following the absence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) team.

The committee was tasked with the responsibility of ensuring a smooth transition from governor Godwin Obaseki’s government to the incoming administration of APC’s governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

The state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Chris Nehikhare, expressed concern that APC has not shown readiness to ensure a smooth and peaceful transition.

Nehikhare accused the APC transition team of raising false alarm that the Obaseki-led PDP government has not provided it with the necessary documents germane for them to function.

He noted; “We have provided the documentation in digital form, but the APC committee members insisted on hardcopy documents which we have made available.

“The Edo State Government Transition Committee will continue to come for meetings until October 30th to provide information for APC committee as long as it is within the committee mandate.

“We only wanted the incoming government to have an idea of what we have done, achieved and the challenges we faced while in government.

“And the final handover note would be transmitted to the governor-elect by Governor Godwin Obaseki.”
