A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory, Hon. Gabriel Bravo Oluohu, has lauded the transformation agenda of the Minister of the FederalCapitalTerritoryAdministration (FCTA), Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, saying “he is the best thing to happen to the FCT in particular and Nigeria in general.”
In statement made available to Blueprint in Abuja, Sunday, Oluohu, a former Supervisory Councillor for Finance and Investment in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), described the Minister as a pragmatic leader and vibrant politician with positive ideas.
Following his assessment of the performance of the FCT minister since he assumed office in August, Oluohu praised Wike’s transformation of FCT with key policy statements and actions so far.
Oluohu, who noted that the former Rivers State Governor, being a man with huge record of achievements in Rivers State, assured that he would leave nobody in doubt to repeat same in FCT.
The former AMAC Supervisory Councillor stressed that the rate at which Wike is going, within his little time in office, is unprecedented and has convinced people that he would transform FCT in line with the dream of its founding fathers.
He said that, with the numerous challenges confronting governance in Nigeria, it requires a man imbued with strength of character and foresight to take FCT to a first class capital territory in the world.
Oluohu commended the minister for wasting no time to hit the ground running by making it clear that the governance of the territory was no longer going to be business as usual.
He said the way Wike addressed the issues of the chaotic inflation of contracts, corruption in land administration, endemic traffic congestion, failing environment orderliness, threatening security situation, poor revenue as well as leakages clearly shows the Minister was out for good in FCT.
He said as a city builder right from Port-Harcourt, Wike’s current action to clean up the city and do away with many shanties in the satellite towns of FCT are very much expected of him to do, because he would do more as a fearless politician to adhere strictly to the Abuja Master plan and dealt decisively with anyone that violated or distorted the original master plan.
The APC chieftain, who is also a leader of APC South South Forum in FCT, informed that Wike’s performance so far in FCT has excited all the good people living in the FCT and they are proud of him as a fearless leader to right a lot of things that have gone wrong in the past
The former Supervisory Councillor allayed the fears of the FCT political class of not going to be relevant in his administration, assuring them that the FCT minister, being a seasoned politician, will in consultation with relevant stakeholders of FCT appoint both indigenes and non-indigenes into political positions as against backdrop that Wike is going to import politicians from outside to hold political positions in FCT.
Oluohu, who also served as Supervisory Councillor of Environment, Education and Health at various times, enjoined residents of FCT to cooperate and support the minister in his onerous task of rebuilding the territory to be a conducive place for all Nigerians to leave.
