Tiv forum demands inclusion in FCT affairs

The Tiv Emancipation Forum, AMAC (TEFA) has demanded for inclusion of members in the scheme of things across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
President of the Forum, Tersoo Gbemako, who declared the demand, said the members as true Nigerians, should be given equal opportunities by the government and political office holders to contribute to the development of the area.
Gbemako declared the demand the call at the unveiling of TEFA in Karu, on Sunday, saying that it was time the FCT administration’s area councils and other stakeholders included Tiv people “in the scheme of things.”
He said, as a Forum that believes in peace and development of the society, its members should be given a level-playing ground in all areas, especially appointments into political and administrative offices.
Gbemako assured FCT administration and all stakeholders of the group’s support in necessary areas that will bring about more transformation in the Territory.
On his part, an executive member of the Forum, Kenneth Adura, while explaining its vision, said TEFA was formed in 2017 as platform that would bring the Tiv people together under one umbrella where their lights would be well attended to.
Adura regretted that the people as the fourth largest ethnic group in the country were not being treated well despite years of their presence in AMAC and other area councils in the FCT.
He said the emancipation forum would help them to be more united and speak with one voice, which would serve as means for channelingtheir demands to appropriate authorities.
“This forum is aimed at bringing us together with a view to speaking with one voice; it is not meant to instigate trouble, but to serve as a platform for helping members succeed in areas of their needs,” he said.
