The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, has assured the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is poised to restore the citizens confidence via dispensation of quality leadership.
Sounding more emphatic, the minister also said the era of relying on propaganda to propagate government programmes is over and gone for good.
The newly sworn-in Minister gave the hint on Thursday at the annual general meeting/election of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), tagged Abuja 2023.
Malagi who is a fellow of the institute was quoted as saying; “The current administration is trying to restore the confidence of the governed. President Tinubu renewed hope agenda will be anchored on transparency and accountable information dissemination.”
He further assured that the new government’s approach would be that which will reduce apathy and engender trust between government and citizens.
Malagi reminded the public relations practitioners that the role of PR can never be more vital than now, saying: “Our work goes far beyond boardroom,”
The minister then enjoined them to use their expertise to offer solutions and assist the Tinubu government in tackling myriads of challenges plaguing the nation.
Speaking earlier, the President and Chairman, Governing Council of the Institute, Mukhtar Zubairu Sirajo, said the institute has placed it upon itself to reflect on any issue bordering the nation and was ready to build her reputation and promote national unity among others.
The body who hailed government palliative measures to cushion the effect of the removal of subsidy however, preached accountability and transparency in its distribution.
While condemning the Niger coup and other military hunters tormenting West Africa, the President demanded return to civil rule.
