The Tertiary Education Trust  (TETFund) has donated a 30-seaterToyota Coaster bus to the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in a colourful ceremony at the corporate headquarters of the Fund in Abuja Monday.

Presenting the bus to the student leaders, TETFund’s Executive Secretary Arch. Sonny Echono said the bus will ease the transportation and movement of the union leaders across the states.  He said the Fund was also designing interventions to address the dearth of student hostel accommodation  and other campus challenges.

Echono said the move was in continuation of its dialogue with education stakeholders, adding that students are at the centre of education issues, deserves more.

While stressing the need for equipping students with skills and right support, Echono noted that TETFund would like the students to be its eye in various institutions, reporting erring contractors to ensure transparency in the system.

“We want to be able to identify on each campus a contact person that will be able to checkmate our projects so that we can have a first hand information, even before sending our team there.

“We are doing several engagement with other stakeholders. So, going forward, this will make our monitoring process more transparent.”

NANS president, Comrade Usman Barambu, assured TETFund that it would put thorough checks across campuses to ensure that contractors who handle TETFund projects do thorough jobs.

The student leaders commended the Fund for honouring their request  of a 30-seater coaster bus.

“We are here to thank you and to also encourage the entire management to do more and more for Nigerian students,” Barambu said.
