Forty-two dead bodies have so far been recovered from the troubled towns of Wukari, Ibi and Rafinkada, a Red Cross source told Blueprint but police insisted that only 15 corpses that had been recovered, four in Wukari and 11 in Ibi.
Our correspondent gathered that in Ibi town alone, over 20 corpses were identified. the police spokesman ASP Joseph Kwaji insisted.
Meanwhile, the Acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, has called for calm in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kefas Sule.
He commended security operatives for their being proactive, attributing the outbreak of violence last Sunday to the negative activities of some youths in the affected areas.
He ordered for immediate proscription of all youth groups in Wukari and Ibbi local governments even as the appropriate agencies were directed to ensure the enforcement of the ban.
When Blueprint visited the three towns yesterday normalcy had returned, but there was curfew in Ibi and Wukari town, just as security operatives were seen all over the place patrolling the suspected flash points.
