Tanker explosion: Pregnant woman hospitalised

 

A pregnant woman, Mrs Maria Owai is currently lying in the Federal Teaching hospital (FETHA 2) Abakaliki after sustaining injury in a bid to escape from the Tuesday fuel tanker explosion that occurred along Enugu/Abakaliki Express way.

Maria, a police Inspector’s wife in an interview with Blueprint said she was pushed down from the fence by an unknown woman while trying to escape the incident. She sustained serious injury on her joints and head as a result of the incident.

Narrating her ordeal she said: “she went to LOPA a gas plant station located along Enugu/Abakaliki express way to refill her gas cylinder when the incidents occurred.

 “You know we had the feeling that since the incident occurred close to the place we were that the gas plant will equally be affected. The stories I have heard about petrol tanker explosion made me join others run.

“We climb the wall of the gas plant station which is very tall and I was almost the last person to climb. unfortunately the woman who was behind me, I believed she was the last person in the premises pushed me when I climbed the wall but did not jump down. So the woman pushed me and I felt down and landed with my head.

“ On landing on the flour I could not move I didn’t know that my legs where affect, but all I could understand was that I was unable to move my legs. “ She said.
