No fewer than 14 persons were killed when herdsmen attacked Mchia and Mou communities in Logo local government area of Benue state.
The attack, Blueprint gathered, took place at about 10:00 pm Wednesday.
Locals said the herdsmen were heavily armed. They killed 12 persons at Mchia and wounded 15 including children now receiving treatment at NKST Hospital, Anyiin.
A resident of the area who identified himself as Joseph Anawah gave names of those killed at Mchia to include Mr. Atsagba Oliver Chion, Mr. Mchivga Utume, Mr. Bemdoo Hindi, Mr. Aondonengen Kwaghwe, Mr. Shinku Ngimsho, and Mr Gwa Joseph.
Others include Mr Vihishima Mbanomso, Mr Luter Yeke, Mr. Sonter Chieam, Mr. Aondosoo and 2 others whose names could not be obtained.
He stated further that the assailants also carried out another attack on Mou village in Ukemberagya/Tswarev council ward, Logo LGA, where 3 persons including Mr Lanem Dooior, Mr Iorungwa Andy Uchir and Emeka Ike (an Igbo trader) were killed.
Special Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom, Lt. Col. Paul Hemba (rtd), who briefed newsmen over the incident Thursday in Government House, confirmed the incident but said only 12 persons were killed in Mchia community and two others at Mou.
