Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state Wednesday said the removal of petroleum subsidy by President Bola Tinubu at the inception of his administration left a lot of money in the hands of state governors.

He stated that improved revenue coming to the states explains why there are many projects executed by the states.

The governor stated this during his presentation of the state of state address to members of the Imo state House of Assembly at the assembly premises.

He said without mincing words that the number of projects done by his government “far outclasses the number of projects done by the previous governments in the state put together from 1999 to 2020.”

He stated further that most of the projects were on road construction, adding that 120 roads  had so far been completed all over the state  and new ones were being embarked upon, with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) having an agreement with the state to install solar lights.

Uzodimma further said apart from road construction, some edifices such as well equipped hospitals had been constructed, while the International Conference Centre was being reconstructed.

He assured that it would be more befitting than the state-of-the-art Imo House of Assembly which he also reconstructed.

The governor added that Imo Airport runway was extended to further make it up to international standard.

He said 232 bus tops would be constructed throughout the state in line with the government’s urban renewal programme.
