A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Oyo state, Hon Jide Adeyemi, has advised Governor Seyi Makinde to stop paying lip service to the issue of security in the state.

Hon Adeyemi gave the advice in Ibadan on Saturday during a chat with newsmen after revalidating his APC membership at his Bale Olugbode constituency in Ibadan North East area of Oyo state.

The APC chieftain said that with the level of insecurity in Oyo state, it is now time for Gov Makinde to see it as a major threat to the state and its residents and without wasting more time, do the needful.

In doing this , the APC House of Representatives hopeful for Ibadan North East / South East federal constituency, pointed out that nothing stops Gov Makinde from going back to the security  strategies put in place by the immediate past administration of late Senator Abiola Ajimobi during his tenure for the state to combat its present security challenges.

Hon Adeyemi maintained that there is the need for Gov Makinde to be bold enough and ensure immediate arrest of those fomenting trouble in Ibadan as well as in other parts of Oyo state to serve as deterrent to others .

He also charged the governor to work together with all the security apparatus in the state, the APC Chieftain said the governor should convene a stakeholders forum on security in the state as well as create an enabling environment for adequate security in the state.

Commenting on the APC membership registration and revalidation exercise, Hon Adeyemi said the turnout of the people has shown APC as  the true political party for the Nigerian masses being  the only grassroots political party in Nigeria with the love of Nigerian masses through which the people can reap real dividends of democracy in Oyo state and Nigeria in general.

The House of Representatives hopeful then urged the people of his constituency and Oyo state in general particularly  the youths to embrace the on going APC membership registration and revalidation exercise for them to be actively involved in the politics of their areas, saying, “like I always tell young people, it is not enough for us to post things on Facebook on Twitter or Instagram because INEC will not count our Twitter posts or comments, INEC will not count the comments we have on the social media.

“Like I always say, it is not enough for us a young people to complain about bad governance, to complain about how things are going on in the country, but we also need to participate, without participation, we cannot create any change”, he said.
