FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA FGN 750x375 1

The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba, has warned the board of the Nigerian Council for Management Development (NCMD) to steer clear of the day to day running of the parastatal.

The minister, who gave the warning at the inauguration of the new board Thursday in Abuja, explained that the CEO of the agency is the one saddled with the day to day running of the agency.

The NCMD is one of four parastatals of the ministry of Budget and National development. Others are National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Budget Office of the Federation, and the Nigerian Institute for Social and Economic Research (NISER).

Agba said: “This day marks the beginning of the commencement of your roles and responsibilities as board members. However, there is a need for a clear understanding as to the extent of your roles and responsibilities. You are required to provide policy guidelines for management development and not to be involved in the day to day running of the parastatal.

“The day to day operations of the CMD is the responsibility of the Director General who is the accounting officer and Chief Executive Officer of the Centre.”

The NCMD Board has Mrs. Binta F. Shuaibu as Chairman, Bar. Marie O. Idaomi, Prof. Muhammad A. Mainoma, Mr. Olawole J. Ademola, and Mr. Bitrus D. Chinoko, who is the Director General of the agency.

“I therefore have no doubt about your individual and collective ability to contribute significantly from your wealth of knowledge and experiences to promote management excellence in Nigeria,” he said.
