State-wide operation: Kaduna police nab 398 suspects, recover arms, phones, others

The Kaduna state Police Command has disclosed the arrest of 398 suspects and the recovery of dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, and stolen mobile phones during a nine-day special crackdown on criminal elements across the state.

The operation, carried out by a multi-agency Special Task Force led by the Nigeria Police, is part of the Kaduna State Government’s intensified effort to restore security and public confidence. Other participating agencies include the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), NDLEA, FRSC, Nigeria Customs, Immigration, Correctional Service, KASTLEA, and KADVIS.

In a statement issued Friday, the Kaduna Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the coordinated raids – driven by actionable intelligence—have not only yielded arrests, but also compelled several criminal elements to flee the state.

Among those arrested were Mathew Adamu, a notorious gang leader from whom a locally made pistol was recovered, and Adamu Umar, a suspected drug dealer whose case had been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action.

According to the PPRO, the operation also led to the seizure of 29 stolen mobile phones, many of which have been returned to their rightful owners after verification. Other dangerous weapons and illegal substances were recovered during the sweep.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has directed all DPOs, Tactical Units, and operatives of the Task Force to sustain the momentum and intensify raids on identified criminal hideouts until Kaduna state is completely rid of lawbreakers,” the statement read in part.
