Director-General of the National Space Research and Development Agency  (NASRDA), Prof. Saidu Ogar  Mohammed, has called on the private sector to invest in space technology to tap the potentials abound in the programme.
Mohammed, who made the call in a chat with journalists, said the agency “plays a key role in information and data collection through satellites for the development of the country.”
He said space programme still remained technology’s best way to obtain data for analysis by scientists, stressing that Dstv, telecommunication channels, were all products of space science and technology.

The director-general explained that in past few years the National Space Development Research Agency (NASDRA) had developed strategic road maps, adding that the agency had engaged in capacity building, the capacity to design and building of satellites such as Nigeria Sat X.
Mohammed, however, highlighted the critical areas where space technology was useful such as water resources, agriculture and disaster management and other key areas, saying that the Centre for launching of satellites had long been completed.
