Solomon Lar University, Bokkos, has matriculated over 600 undergraduates of the 2014/2015 academic session as the vice-chancellor also marks one year in office as the chief executive of the institution.
Speaking during the oath-taking ceremony at the university permanent site in Bokkos, Plateau state, the vice chancellor, Prof. Doknan Danjuma Decent Sheni, noted that “history is being made as we witness the matriculation ceremony of our fourth set of undergraduates who scaled successfully through our admission processes.”
Sheni, who congratulated the matriculating students on becoming bona fide members of the Solomon University community, pointed out that “the event is also coming barely one year in the first anniversary of my appointment as vice chancellor of this university.”
He said the “journey has so been worthwhile, though with its challenges,” and revealed that “my leadership would continue to remain focused in its determination to take the university to the next level of its development.”
He reassured the fresh students that “you are matriculated into a university that is restructuring and repositioning itself for global relevance.”
Emphasising the imperative of self-discipline in an environment guaranteeing freedom for both academic and social fraternisation,
Sheni reminded the students that “the oath you have all sworn to places on you the responsibility and need to be wary of your actions and inactions.”
“You must, therefore, do the right thing at the right time and in the appropriate place.”
