A septuagenarian, Kareem Aderemi, has allegedly committed suicide at Alapo’s compound, in Ede, Osun state.
The deceased was said to have shot himself in the lower jaw with a local barrel, Monday afternoon.
It was gathered that the deceased had been lonely with eye problems for some time, while efforts to trace his relatives have been futile.
Findings shows that he had been battling with parkinson and partial eye problems without adequate care.
A police source said the deceased had his licensed barrel, and he had always been with his barrel since he partially lost his sight, but no one knew he had a cartridge with which he used to kill himself.
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the incident.
She said the authority of “A” Divisional headquarters of the Nigeria Police, Ede North, has been involved and had taken the barrel into their custody.
According to NSCDC, the arrangement has been made to bury the body according to Islamic rites.
