Senator Ndume Begs Military, Security Agents to End Boko Haram Insurgency Quickly

The Senator representing Borno south senatorial District at the National Assembly and former Senate leader, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has asserted that two problematic areas militate against federal and state governments efforts in the fight against boko haram insurgency in Borno state.

Ndume who identified Damboa-Gwoza-Chibok and Lake Chad areas as major dangerous spots appealed to the Nigerian armed forces and other security agencies to increase surveillance and operations in the areas in order to completely and permanently clear the remnants of Boko Haram insurgents in the area and state at large.

The Senator stated this Wednesday while reacting to last weekend’s killing of scores of people in Damboa town of Damboa local government area of Borno state in a statement he issued from Saudi Arabia during his Umrah (smaller hajj).

He also emphasised that he had credible reports that the Boko Haram insurgents are operating from the two spots.

According to him, if the military attack the two bases, the insurgents would be tamed and definitely rendered harmless.
He said the bases were reported to be the operational bases of the insurgents.

“We are appealing to the military to intensify operation on the darkest spots in Borno state where the insurgents are said to be carrying out their operations from.

“It is suspected and reported that Abubakar Shekau, a factional leader of the sect, is operating from the Chibok axis while the Mamman Nur’s group operates from the Lake Chad axis, ” Ndume further said.

He said if the military attacks the bases of the insurgents with superior firepower, the insurgents would be defeated.

“They should clear the two bases for us to have peace. These are the two reported and known bases of the insurgents in Borno state” he said.

While condoling with the family of those who were killed in the Damboa’s attack, Ndume added that he had also sent a delegation to visit the injured at the hospital.
