Senator Jibrin Isah (APC Kogi East), has condemned the dastardly killings carried out in Agojeju Odo and Abejukolo communities in Omala Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi state on Thursday by yet to be identified gunmen.
In a personally signed statement issued on Saturday, Senator Jibrin who chairs the Senate Committee on Customs, called on the Inspector – General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and heads of other security agencies, to ensure arrest and prosecution of the mindless perpetrators.
He added that based on information at his disposal, the Governor Usman Ododo-led administration in the state, is on top of the situation by already collaborating with relevant security agencies to unmask the evil doers and visit justice.on them.
“The unprovoked blood letting attacks carried out in Agojeju Odo and Abejukolo communities in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State on Thursday by merchants of deaths was not only condemnable but barbaric.
“It is very saddening because the victims who were my constituents , were peace loving people. My appeal to tbe affected communities is fir them to be remain calm as the long arm of the law , would surely catch up with the diabolically minded beasts.
“They are beasts because how on earth, will anybody who want people to see him or her as human being, attack fellow human beings in their communities , killed them , set their houses and farms ablaze .
“As Senator representing the affected communities and victims , required efforts are being made to practically mitigate the deliberately inflicted disaster.
“Appeals have also been made to the State Government to provide security measures that would prevent reoccurrence of such violent attacks on innocent Nigerians in the affected communities and others , just as relevant disaster management agencies , are also being called upon to provide relief materials to the affected communities,” he said.
Reports had it that the unknown gunmen who carried out the attacks which claimed 19 lives, were having a running battle with Agatu militia in Benue, before they headed to Agojeju Odo, Ajokpachi Odo, Bagaji communities.
